Shavkat Mirziyoyev: Taking our compatriots back from the Middle East was not easy
Speaking at the meeting in Tashkent region, the head of our state has expounded on Operation “Mehr” (Benevolence).
“Yes, we’ve taken 156 of our compatriots back from the Middle East where the war is going on. Why had they left Uzbekistan in the first place? Because their situation was deplorable, with little conditions. But what happened in the end? Our women were sold, five children were born from five different men, a 14-year-old girl gave birth to a child ... Is this good for us?”
“It was extremely tricky to take them back to their homeland. We had to bargain with many countries. Landing an airplane there, getting people out of the hands of terrorists is not easy.
Despite that, we took them back, because they are our compatriots. What are we going to do now? Where are the elders, the public? Who will explain what happened? Such things should agitate and torment us all,”the President insisted.
