The leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan emphasized the importance of expanding practical cooperation

Upon arrival in the city of Khujand, a meeting took place between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
The two leaders discussed pressing issues related to the further deepening of bilateral relations in friendship, strategic partnership, and alliance, in the context of implementing high-level agreements.
At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state sincerely congratulated each other and their brotherly nations on the upcoming sacred holiday of Ramadan Hayit.
They expressed deep satisfaction with the highest level of multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik cooperation achieved.
In 2024, trade turnover exceeded $700 million. Successful cooperation projects are being implemented in industries such as manufacturing, energy, electrical engineering, textiles, and agriculture, among other priority sectors. Productive interregional contacts and active cultural and humanitarian exchanges are also ongoing.
The importance of developing measures to accelerate joint practical cooperation projects during the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission was emphasized.
The leaders also exchanged views on the regional agenda, including the organization of upcoming multilateral summits in Uzbekistan.
