The President of Uzbekistan participated in a trilateral meeting of heads of state

On March 31, in the city of Khujand, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, participated in a trilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov.
At the beginning of the meeting, the heads of state congratulated each other on the upcoming sacred holiday of Ramadan and the spring festival of renewal, Navruz, wishing peace, prosperity, and well-being to their fraternal nations.
The leader of Uzbekistan also warmly congratulated the Tajik and Kyrgyz sides on the final resolution of all border-related issues and the signing of the Treaty on the Delimitation of the State Border.
It was emphasized that this document, along with the newly adopted Treaty on the Junction Point of the State Borders of the Three Countries, will contribute to ensuring stability, sustainable development, and strengthening the international standing of the entire region. The newly inaugurated Friendship Monument will serve as a symbol of growing neighborly relations, trust, and strategic partnership among the brotherly nations.
The President of Uzbekistan highlighted key priority areas for practical cooperation.
First and foremost, he emphasized the importance of maintaining active and trustworthy high-level contacts.
This week, the first "Central Asia – European Union" summit and a Climate Forum dedicated to common environmental challenges in the region will take place in Samarkand.
In May, a summit with the Gulf Arab states is scheduled, followed by the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in September.
In this context, the importance of continuing regular consultations between the foreign ministries was underscored to carefully prepare the agenda for upcoming events and develop unified approaches.
Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation between border regions.
It was noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan's trade turnover with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan has increased significantly, with nearly half of this volume accounted for by border regions.
In this regard, the necessity of comprehensive modernization and expansion of customs checkpoints at the borders, as well as the creation of a convenient and modern trade and logistics infrastructure, was emphasized.
A proposal was made to explore the establishment of a trilateral trade platform with a permanent exhibition-fair showcasing industrial and agricultural products.
Another key focus was industrial cooperation projects.
Currently, Uzbek enterprises and private companies are actively investing in the development of modern production facilities in neighboring countries.
To support cooperation, the leader of Uzbekistan expressed readiness to gradually increase the capital of joint investment funds.
It was agreed to continue efforts to enhance transport connectivity between the countries. This includes increasing the frequency and expanding the geography of air routes, as well as launching new bus routes between cities in border regions.
The discussion also covered the promotion of large regional projects in green energy and transportation, as well as joint programs in water management and environmental protection.
The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that a more active economic engagement by the governments should yield quick and tangible results that improve the well-being of the nations.
It was particularly noted that the ongoing cultural and humanitarian events in Khujand are strengthening friendship and mutual understanding, especially among young people.
The head of state proposed holding annual joint concerts and friendship festivals in border regions during Navruz celebrations and expressed readiness to host such events next year in the city of Fergana.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a historic Treaty on the Junction Point of the State Borders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan was signed, along with a Joint Declaration by the three heads of state.
