The President of Uzbekistan highlighted the opportunities for developing partnership with UN-Habitat

On April 4, on the sidelines of the Samarkand Climate Forum, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the UN-Habitat Program, Anaukladiya Rossbach.
The head of the leading UN structure in the field of urbanization conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from UN Secretary-General António Guterres to the President of Uzbekistan.
The discussion focused on the development of multifaceted partnership with this prominent UN institution in the areas of sustainable urban development, infrastructure modernization, and improving the quality of life for the population.
The UN representative positively assessed the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in the field of urbanization, aimed at sustainable development of "smart" and "green" cities, as well as the creation of a comfortable environment for citizens.
The importance of enhancing cooperation on the implementation of modern digital solutions in city management, the development of "green" building standards, and launching a special program for climate change adaptation in urban areas was highlighted.
The issues of holding the World Cleanliness Day in Uzbekistan and opening an office of the organization in Tashkent were discussed. An agreement was reached on adopting a "roadmap" for practical cooperation in these areas.
