The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with companies from Saudi Arabia

On the sidelines of the Samarkand Climate Forum, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Co-Chairman of the Uzbekistan–Saudi Arabia Business Council and Chairman of the Board of ACWA Power, Mohammad Abunayyan.
The meeting focused on further expanding practical cooperation with companies from Saudi Arabia.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of fruitful partnership with ACWA Power, a strategic investor in Uzbekistan’s green energy sector. Currently, the joint project portfolio with the company has reached $15 billion.
In December of last year, two wind power plants with a capacity of 500 megawatts each were connected to the grid in the Bukhara region, and construction began on two solar power plants with a total capacity of 1 gigawatt in the Samarkand region, along with energy storage systems in the Tashkent region.
The importance of accelerating project implementation in green energy, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, modernization of heating and water supply systems, housing and public utilities, and other priority sectors was emphasized.
In this context, the need for thorough preparation of the upcoming Intergovernmental Commission meeting and business forum, scheduled to take place this year in the city of Samarkand, was highlighted.
With that, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded his participation in the Samarkand Summit and Climate Forum. The head of state departed for Tashkent.
