Proposals for improving the quality of education have been presented

On April 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on measures to improve the quality of school education and to enhance the system for training teaching personnel.
In the Uzbekistan – 2030 Strategy, the reform of the education system is identified as one of the priority areas. The state program for the current year also outlines a wide range of objectives for improving conditions in schools and fostering an educated younger generation.
The achievement of these goals largely depends on the knowledge level and professional training of teachers. Currently, there are 15 state and 61 non-state higher educational institutions in the country with a pedagogical focus. However, the scientific capacity of these institutions stands at only about 40 percent.
Most of the training programs are in social science specialties, while teacher training in exact and natural sciences remains at a low level. Additionally, 40 percent of students are studying in a correspondence (distance learning) format.
In this regard, there are plans to transform the Tashkent State Pedagogical University and establish the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan, as well as implement the "Teachers of the Future" project.
At the “New Uzbekistan” University, more than 40 foreign professors and 30 highly qualified compatriots invited from abroad are currently working. Various student projects have attracted 24.3 billion soums in grants. Their potential will be utilized to strengthen the training of specialists in modern fields such as engineering, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and medicine, with the opening of new laboratories.
To ensure the integration of science, education, and practice, a modern university clinic will be established at the university, using advanced German experience.
International methodologies are being introduced to assess the quality of education. This year, the knowledge of 9,000 fifteen-year-old students from 233 schools will be assessed within the framework of the international PISA program.
Currently, two thousand schools are operating under high load. This year, 112,000 new student places will be created through budgetary funds. Due to population growth, the demand for schools continues to increase. In this context, it is planned to attract $200 million from the Islamic Development Bank to construct 58 modern schools in the regions.
According to analysis, about 80 percent of schoolchildren actively use the internet and social media. Although measures are being taken to protect children from harmful content, there are currently very few creators producing engaging and educational national content.
In this regard, instructions were given to create a safe information environment for children, increase the volume of national content, and support talented content creators.
