The railway infrastructure has been inspected

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed domestically produced railway carriages and inspected the electrified Urgench–Khiva railway line.
As of today, the 465-kilometer-long “Bukhara – Urgench – Khiva” railway has been fully electrified, with protective fencing installed along the line and engineering structures constructed. For this route, six high-speed electric trains manufactured by Hyundai Rotem (South Korea) will be purchased. Starting next year, they will operate under the name “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” on the Tashkent–Khiva route.
As a result, the railway will be capable of serving more than 3 million passengers per year. While the current travel time from Tashkent to Khiva is 14 hours, the electric trains will reduce it to 7 hours and 40 minutes.
Freight transport capacity will increase to 6 million tons, compared to the current 1 million tons.
Based on the Presidential Decree of October 10, 2023, on the radical reform of the railway transport system, the railway car fleet is being actively modernized. In particular, 50 million USD from the Reconstruction and Development Fund has been allocated to strengthen the railcar manufacturing industry. In the first quarter of this year, the first 10 passenger carriages were built.
The head of state examined the amenities provided in the new railcars.
Over the next two years, the number of passenger railcars is expected to increase to 70, gradually replacing outdated models. This will make it possible to transport over 1 million additional passengers annually.
The President traveled on the new train from Urgench to Khiva together with members of the public. Along the way, he observed landscaping works and saplings planted along the edges of the fields.
Last year, under the national project “Yashil Makon” (Green Space), around 10 million trees and shrubs were planted in the Khorezm region. Major industrial enterprises have also established their own green belts.
This spring, the scale of cultivation has also expanded: more than 1,100 hectares along fields and canals have been sown with profitable crops. Entrepreneurs are guaranteed buyers of the produce. Through the mobile application Agroko‘makchi, the population is provided with information about available plots.
