President of Uzbekistan commends fruitful partnership with the UNICEF

On May 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the executive director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Catherine Russell, who is currently on a visit in our country.
Issues of further expansion of the multifaceted cooperation with this leading specialized institute of the UN system were discussed.
In the beginning of the meeting the head of UNICEF passed to the President of Uzbekistan sincere greetings of the UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The results of the reforms carried out in our country were highly appreciated, and the national program in the field of ensuring rights and expanding opportunities for children was supported.
During the meeting, deep satisfaction was expressed with the level of Uzbekistan's interaction with UNICEF in recent years.
With the support of the Organization, Uzbekistan has adopted a legislative act on the protection of children from violence, strategic documents in the area of social protection of the population and the fight against child oncology.
Support was provided in countering the coronavirus pandemic and developing the vaccination system.
The importance of implementing joint measures in the field of improving legislation, introducing new mechanisms of care and support for children, developing the system of social work and personnel training, improving accessibility and quality of social services, developing national standards, expanding social insurance, developing inclusive education and other priority areas was emphasized.
An agreement was reached on the adoption of a new Country Program until 2030, as well as the joint organization of a number of international events on the protection of the rights and promotion of the interests of children.
