Negotiations with British Ambassador
On June 4, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov held talks with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Timothy Torlot, via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
Views were exchanged on the current issues of bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment and other spheres.
The sides emphasized the fruitfulness of talks held on May 7 between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov and UK Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Development Wendy Morton. The need for further expanding dialogue between the two countries on a mutually beneficial basis was noted.
Practical steps to counteract the spread of COVID-19 and the fight against its negative social and economic consequences were also discussed in detail. In this regard, the establishment of regular interaction for exchanging experience between medical professionals of Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom was welcomed.
The sides also considered international and regional agenda, paying special attention to the Afghan problem.
