Ismatulla Irgashev holds talks with British Special Representative for Afghanistan

On June 23, 2020, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held a videoconference with British Special Representative for Afghanistan, Gareth Bayley, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

During the conversation, the sides discussed the efforts of Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom on peaceful settlement of the Afghan crisis, as well as launching direct intra-Afghan talks as soon as possible.

Views were exchanged on priority areas of Uzbekistan – British cooperation in rebuilding the national economy of Afghanistan, implementation of various infrastructure projects in the country.

The sides expressed mutual interest in continuing bilateral consultations on the Afghan issue.
