The President visits the construction site of a new airport
On June 28, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined the progress of construction of a new airport being created at the basis of the former Tashkent Vostochny airfield.
The 30 June 2017 presidential decree envisages the provision of civil (business) aviation services here at the emerging air harbor to the east of the capital city. During last year’s trip to the airfield, the head of state reviewed the project proposals for the reconstruction of the facility.
Today, construction works are in full swing here. In particular, two runways of 4 kilometers each are planned to be built here, as are hangars and platforms as well as terminals capable of serving a thousand passengers an hour, including high-level delegations and business representatives.
The head of our state noted that the airport is being built with an eye to the distant future, thus it should turn out to be thoroughly thought-out, safe and of high-quality.
