The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan met with the U.S. President’s National Security Advisor and the U.S. Secretary of State

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Secretary of State thanked Uzbekistan “for assistance in the repatriation of individuals deported from the U.S.” and welcomed Uzbekistan's decision to join the Global Coalition against ISIS. Saidov also met with National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.
With Rubio, he discussed a wide range of key topics, including strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic and investment cooperation, developing regional ties, and ensuring security and stability in Central Asia.
“We highly value the strong support of the United States for the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan. We agreed to maintain the positive momentum of bilateral relations through continued high-level dialogue and practical cooperation within the framework of the strategic partnership,” wrote Saidov.
In addition, the head of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry held a meeting in Washington with U.S. National Security Advisor Michael Waltz. The parties discussed a broad range of regional and international issues.
“Our dialogue focused on strengthening cooperation in the areas of security, economic progress, regional connectivity, and promoting sustainable development in Central Asia,” added Saidov.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan greatly values the consistent support of the U.S. President for Uzbekistan’s reform program and the joint efforts to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.
