The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of expanding practical cooperation with the European Union

On May 13, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, received the Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia, Eduards Stiprais.
The EU Special Representative conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral and regional cooperation in the context of the practical implementation of the decisions made at the first “Central Asia – European Union” summit, held this April in the city of Samarkand.
Special attention was given to the prompt preparation and advancement of specific investment and financial-technical cooperation projects amounting to 12 billion euros.
There was also an exchange of views on the current regional agenda, and the schedule of upcoming events was reviewed.
